What is a Multiple Sclerosis (MS)?

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that attacks the brain, spine and optical nerves known as the central nervous system.

The symptoms can be as mild as numbness in your hands and feet or as extreme as paralysis or loss of your eyesight.

Scientist and Doctors still do not know the cause of MS. They believe that there are many factors. These include, your immune system, your environment, infections and genetics.

MS can affect people at any age. Although it is more commonly diagnosed in woman in their 20's to 50's.

What are the warning signs?

  • Numbness of hands and feet
  • Tiredness
  • Trouble walking and balancing
  • Dizziness
  • Bladder and bowel dysfunctions
  • Vision problems
  • Depression
  • Pain
  • Cognitive issues
  • Tremors

Treatments:

There is currently no cure for MS. It will get progressive more severe over time. There are medications and lifestyle changes that can be used to slow the progression.
